Why Do I Need a Four-Pack of This Telephone?

Elderly individuals often prefer to use straightforward corded telephones, due to the classic design and inability to misplace it. However, the issue with corded phones is that, if you're not situated nearby when it rings, it can be hard to get to the phone quickly. This bundle of four provides a great solution, enabling a unit to be placed at different spots around the house to ensure easy access.

How Loud Is the Loudest Telephone?

The volume of the Geemarc Amplipower 50 Amplified Telephone is fully adjustable. An easy-to-use slider sets the volume, and ranges from a normal receiver volume to an extremely loud 60dB, which is approximately 32 times as loud as a standard telephone. You can leave this adjustable slider where it is, so there is no need to adjust the volume for every call, but it does let you turn the volume up or down depending on how loud the other person is when they are speaking to you.

Tone control helps you adjust how the person's voice comes across to you, boosting difficult-to-hear elements of speech like the letter "T" and "S" in conversation that can easily be missed if you are hard of hearing. Moreover, you can also adjust the ringing volume to up 80dB, making sure you never miss another call.

Fully Adjustable Volume

Our Top Tip

We recommend trying the phone at a low volume and increasing it to find a level the user is comfortable with, as some users may find using the Amplipower 50 uncomfortable at its highest level of amplification.

How Loud is the Loudspeaker?

The loudspeaker on the this phone uses the same powerful speaker as the ringtone, and so has a maximum volume of 80 decibels. It should be noted that the actual observed volume will depend on the voice level and pitch of the person on the other end.

How Easy Is It to Set Up This Amplified Phone?

The Geemarc Amplipower 50 Amplified Telephone is not only the loudest, but also one of the easiest phones to set up and use. Before first use, all you need to do is:

  1. Connect the handset cord
  2. Connect the line cord
  3. Connect the PTT plug to the wall socket
  4. Connect the adaptor cord to the telephone
  5. Connect the adaptor to your wall socket

Can I Connect This Phone to My Internet Modem?

Yes, if you subscribe to a digital phone line from your landline provider, this phone can be connected by plugging the telephone cord directly into your internet modem.

How Easy To Use Is the Geemarc Amplipower 50?

The Geemarc Amplipower 50 is easier to use than most amplified telephones, which makes it the ideal solution for the elderly, as well as people suffering from dementia. To answer an incoming call, all you need to do is lift the handset and speak. On completion of the call, replace the handset in the cradle to release the line.

Does the Amplipower 50 Require Multiple Phone Sockets?

As these devices are corded, each one will require a telephone jack to plug in to. If you'd prefer a cordless unit, check out our great Cordless Telephones category.

Does the Amplipower 50 Telephone Include an Answering Machine?

The Amplipower 50 is designed to be very easy to use. It is ideal for users looking for nothing but an extra loud receiver and ringing volume, so to keep it as simple as possible, it does not include an answering machine. If you're looking for an amplified telephone with an answering machine, we highly recommend the Geemarc AmpliDECT595 Amplified Cordless Telephone.

Can I Add Additional Handsets to This System?

While the Amplipower 50 can be used on the same phone line as additional cordless phones, handsets can unfortunately not be connected directly to the system itself. If you'd like a system you can pair cordless handsets to, we recommend the Geemarc AmpliDECT 295 Amplified Corded and Cordless Combi Pack. This includes a corded amplified phone and one cordless handset, and you can pair up to an additional three handsets by purchasing the Extra Handset for the AmpliDECT 295.

How Suitable Is This Amplified Phone for People with Dementia?

The great thing about this Amplipower 50 Telephone is how easy it is to use. It has a smart and simple design, and there are no activation buttons for answering a call; simply pick up the receiver and start talking. This makes it ideal for people who are used to a classic telephone, helping them make the often tricky transition to a new piece of technology straightforward.

Is This Amplified Telephone Wall Mountable?

Yes, you can easily mount this phone on the wall. To do so, drill two holes in the wall (80mm apart) and insert the wall plugs and the screws, leaving about 6mm of the screws projecting from the wall. Then slide the telephone downwards to secure its position.

Does the Amplipower 50 Telephone Have a Hands-Free Function?

Ideal for users with painful or arthritic hands, the Amplipower 50 does feature a hands-free function, which can be activated by simply pressing a button. When the phone rings, answer it by pressing the "Handsfree/Handset" button.

How Is the Geemarc Amplipower 50 Amplified Telephone Powered?

The Geemarc Amplipower 50 is mains powered, and comes with a power cord included. The phone also includes a battery compartment which fits four non-rechargeable AAA alkaline batteries (not included). The batteries are required for the phone to ring in case of a power failure, so we strongly recommend you insert them.

Is There a Phone Book?

While the phone doesn't have a phone book built in that can be scrolled through to find numbers, it does allow you to programme up to 12 numbers into the phone. This allows for one-touch dialling, removing the need to type in these numbers each time.

Is This Amplified Phone Hearing Aid Compatible?

Yes, most Geemarc amplified telephones are compatible with a hearing aid. The Amplipower 50 Amplified Telephone is compatible with all hearing aids with a telecoil facility (T-position).

Do You Have to Activate the Volume Control Each Time You Make and Receive a Call?

No - the great thing about this telephone is that there is a top level volume setting that you can activate (via a simple switch on the back of the telephone) that enables you to turn on the top level volume automatically each time you make or receive a call.

This means that you can set the volume and tone control to suit your needs, and leave those settings in place. You don't need to remember to activate the volume each time you use the phone. This makes it a perfect solution if you are setting up a telephone for a friend or family member and want to make sure that it is as simple for them to use as possible.

Are There Any Other Colours Available?

The Amplipower 50 White Amplified Telephone is available in white or black. You can purchase the black version here.
