| Comparison Guide for the Doro Mobile Phone Range12 September 2024 | Sharman In a sea of overly complicated and hard-to-use mobile phones, Doro Phones stand out for their simplified and extra-loud handsets that don't skimp on quality. But Doro recognise that even within simplified mobile phones not everyone is after the same thing. So, their range extends from 'brick phones' to flip phones and even streamlined versions of modern smart phones, making sure everyone can find a phone that instils confidence and independence. In this Doro Phone comparison guide we'll go over the Differences Between Doro Mobile Phones, to help you find the best phone for you or your loved one. What Does this Guide Cover?
Feature PhonesAlso known as a 'brick phone' or 'dumb phone', a feature phone takes it right back to basics. In terms of look and interface these Doro Feature Phones are similar to the mobile phones from the 90s and early 2000s, but boast modern features like 4g connectivity, brighter screens and emergency assistance buttons. They're also all of course significantly louder and suitable for the hearing impaired.
What We Think: The Doro 780X Super Simple Phone truly lives up to its name. You'd be hard pressed to find a mobile with so few buttons and the labelled speed dial is a brilliant feature for those with memory issues: just look at the three names and press A, B, or C for instant dialling. The back of the phone also has a response button that sends an alert to trusted contacts, while the ingenious 'man down' feature can detect falls.
What We Think: The Doro 5860 is similarly easy to use as the Doro feature phones, but the keypad is more similar to those found on cordless landlines and features rounded buttons that are easier to press. Not completely without frills despite purposely basic design, it also features a handy torch and an FM radio.
What We Think: Despite the compact size of the Doro 1880, the display is wide and high-contrast, with easy-to-read buttons that are well spaced out to make typing. This makes it a popular choice for visually impaired. It’s of course extra-loud and hearing aid compatible, plus despite the simple design it still features a camera for taking pictures and videos. Comparing the Doro Feature PhonesFlip PhonesIf you find a constantly-on screen a little distracting or overwhelming, Doro Flip Phones, or 'Clamshell Phones' are a great option. Doro offer a really wide range of flip phones, from really stripped back options, to those with full internet access. The latter are great for those who love the feel and style of a flip phone but you still want to pipe up in the family WhatsApp group!
What We Think: While other flip phone options below have small screens on top, Doro 2404 is completely enclosed, greatly reducing the chances of a smashed screen. If you're prone to accidents or dropping things, this phone helps to prevent damage.
What We Think: One of our most popular mobiles, the Doro 2820 Flip Phone with Emergency Button is really lightweight and compact, but the soft touch coating makes sure it won’t just slip out of your hands. While some of the clamshell phone below have a second screen, this doesn’t, which greatly reduces chances of damage in case of drops. It instead flashes a light to indicate messages or low battery.
What We Think: A lot of new phones seem to lose their battery really quickly, leaving users unable to make emergency calls. Doro Flip Phones on the other hand boast seriously long battery lives – the Doro 6820 Clear and Loud Phone delivers 380 hours of standby time and up to 430 minutes of talk time. You can leave it in the car or forget to charge it for days, but never be out of touch. What We Think: Want the stripped back design, large buttons and emergency functions of the other Doro phones but still want to embarrass the grandkids in the family group chat? Then the Doro 7030 is your answer. It’s a super simple flip phone for seniors, but it comes with access to WhatsApp and Facebook!
What We Think: Mobile phones can be really easy to lose, but the Doro 2880 Big Button Phone is supplied with a handy little charging cradle. It’s just like your classic cordless landline, but you can take it with you on the go! The large keys and backlit keyboard are easy to use, while the one-touch SOS button on the back helps keep you safe.
What We Think: You don’t always want to pick up every call, especially with spam so rampant nowadays. Well with the tiny second screen on the outside of the Doro 6880 Clamshell Phone, you’ll always know who’s calling, but without distraction and confusion of dealing with a full screen at all times. The main screen itself is really bright, the buttons are big and there’s an emergency button that contacts a selected contact with a single push. Comparing the Doro Flip PhonesSmartphonesEnjoy all the amenities of a modern smartphone but with a far more simplified operating system. For phones that still have great cameras, the internet and access to the Google Play Store, it doesn't get more simple than Doro Smartphones. But more than just being streamlined they're extra-tough in case of drops, amplified for hard-of-hearing users and feature emergency/assistance features.
What We Think: Take the standard smartphone your kids or grandkids might have, now make it way louder and way simpler to use. That’s what the Doro 8100 Amplified Smartphone is. Featuring full internet access, a powerful camera and an application store it has every essential modern convenience. But the simplified interface, remote access for loved ones, and added safety features keep it grounded.
What We Think: The Doro 8200 ClearSound Android Phone shares all the brilliant features of the 8100 above, but this model has even bigger icons that are perfect for the visually impaired. It also adds a torch, more memory and a more powerful camera. Comparing the Doro SmartphonesClear and ConnectedAs you can see, Doro's range of mobile phones has plenty to offer and we hope we've made the key features and differences a little clearer!
